A photo diary of summertime in Lisbon & Sintra Portugal in summer 2018.
You can check out my first trip to Lisbon in 2016 here :)
My Master Guide to Lisbon, Portugal
Restaurants:
Atira-te ao rio* and Ponto Final* - my favorite restaurants! You have to take the ferry across the bridge to get to them but they are both amazing.
Prado*
Oficina do Duque*
Altar*
Java Rooftop*
Topo Chiado Rooftop Bar & Restaurant
Capito a Mesa
Ramiro Seafood restaurant - super famous and very 50s looking
Time Out Market
Teracco Chill-Out Limao
Bars:
Topo Terraco / Topo Martim Moiz Rooftop Cocktail Bar
Casa Independiente - don’t really know what to call this but I guess its a bar, its this cool art gallery apartment/art association turned bar and live music venue at night (if you go here the restaurant Ramiro is right here too)
Lux Club - bigger club - not a must do IMO
Pink Street* is the big going out area with back to back bars - be careful with your purses because it gets a little crazy!
Pensao Amor* - the coolest 4 story building with bars and dance floors in every room
4 Caravelas
The Good and the Bad and the Ugly
MusicBox
Europa
Bar Liverpool
Cafe’s:
Giallo Ice Cream Shop
The Mill
Pois Cafe
Dede’s
How About Coffee
Things to Do:
Miradouro de Santa Luzia* - my favorite viewspot! It is in Jardim Julio de Castilho, a beautiful garden overlooking the water. Stunning tile covered walls and benches and colorful bougainveilla.
Miradouro de Recolhimento - my other favorite view spot just below the one above - a corner in town with a cute cafe, we saw a lot of musicians playing here. Miradouro das Portas do Sol - is right next to it, so we just added to our Google maps and did a walk from viewspot to viewspot! They are all super close together.
Graffiti Ruine* - if you type this in and explore this area going back up towards the mountain, theres some super cool ruins, street art and graffiti in this area. We saw people bring bottles of wine and watching the sunset from here.
St George Castle Viewpoint
Mercado Se Santa Clara flea market
Belem Tower
Galeria Sao Mamede Art Gallery
Oficina Marques Art Gallery
Praca de Comercio - this is the huge, main town square. If you head towards town from here, you will hit the more touristy area with tourist restaurants, big retail stores, etc. But it’s still worth seeing the square, and you’ll likely walk through it a lot in your time in Lisbon
Castelo de S George Tour: Small fee to get in but the views are worth it
Alfama* - this is the old town district - bring your camera and just let yourself get lost in the hills and cobblestone alleys. We saw so many elderly locals hanging out their laundry and chatting on their balconys <3
Day Trip to Sintra* - be sure to go to Palace de Pena (the castle pictured in this photo diary) and Quinta de la Regaleira (you can see pics of Quinta de la Regaleira from my first trip to Lisbon here.)
